Dionysus Sailing with Dolphins – Mythological Sea Art – Silk Watercolor Print
Dionysus Sailing with Dolphins
It's hard to love the sea and not love mythology.
This silk watercolor painting, ‘Dionysus & Dolphins,’ is my take on ancient Greek mythology. Inspired by Minoan frescoes and ceramic art, it depicts Dionysus — the God of Wine — sailing with playful dolphins in a vibrant turquoise sea as the mast sprouts into grape vines.
The story: According to myth, Dionysus transformed greedy sailors into dolphins after they tried to sell him into slavery. These dolphins, now symbols of good luck and kinship, guided ships and rescued sailors in distress.
Hand-painted using the Serti technique on silk, this piece captures the whimsy and magic of the sea. The original painting measures 26”x20” and is now available as a high-quality archival print.
Whether you’re a lover of mythology, coastal decor, or simply dream of the ocean, ‘Dionysus & Dolphins’ brings a touch of ancient storytelling and vibrant color to your space.

Size/Space/Tip
Visualizing art filling a specific space on the wall can be tricky.
An easy way to see if the size of the print you are considering fits your wall space is to cut a piece of poster board to size and tape it to the wall to see if it is what you need.
If the print is on stretched canvas, it is ready to hang. However, a print on paper needs a frame, so you'll need to add inches to the width and height of the posterboard mockup to accommodate mating and framing. Example: A narrow one-inch wide frame with a standard 3-inch wide mat around the artwork would add 8 inches to the width and height. So a 15"x20" print would be 23"x28" when framed.
