Surreal Dolphin Painting: Guardian Of Resting Souls - Discovery
'Guardian Of Resting Souls' Fine art Giclee on Canvas.
I painted this after spending weeks swimming with wild dolphins in Belize, and one in particular, that lived around Lighthouse reef. My original painting was a 4'x5' oil.
When getting to know this wonderful soul, my first surprise was her facial expressions and moods, which clearly showed in her laugh lines and the wrinkles around her eyes and mouth, her vocals, and her body language. My second surprise was that I would learn her games. Getting to know her filled days, dreams, and paintings.In this dream, she showed me the place where resting souls were guarded. The "Discovery" part of the title was my experience.
I have vivid dreams that are often in story form. I needed to paint this one.
My stretched canvas prints are on quality 2.5" deep stretcher bars and ready to hang without a frame.
Order the unmounted canvas print if you prefer to frame it or stretch it yourself. An unstretched canvas has an extra 2-inch border added around the ordered size, providing extra canvas for mounting. Unmounted canvas prints usually ship rolled in a sturdy shipping tube.

The gloss finish canvas is my favorite if the painting will be in a home, living room, or bedroom with standard lighting. I paint in thin veils of color, so the surface of most of my paintings is smooth, and I varnish them so the surface has a soft glaze. In most situations, this gloss canvas looks the most like my original. However, the matte finish canvas is best if you plan to display it in a bright area with large windows or bright artificial light like gallery-style can spots. Ask yourself, would the glare be too much if you hung a frame there with glass? If so, go with the matte finish. I order the matte canvas if I am gearing up for an exhibit where I know the lighting will be bright and direct.
On the fence? The matte finish has a softer, more timeless, classic look, and the gloss pops the colors a bit for a more modern, sleek style. I hope this helps with your design plans.

Size/Space/Tip
An easy way to see if the size of the print you are considering fits your wall space is to cut a piece of poster board to size and tape it to the wall to see if it is what you need. If you plan to have it framed, add 4 to 8 inches or more to the dimensions. For example, a small profile frame without a mat would add 2" per side. (print +4" in width, +4" in height).
