Jaguar at My Casita
Jaguar at My Casita
A painting from the Central America Wildlife series: Living Jungle Dreams
After weeks of living in a beautiful little casita beside a bubbling river in Cayo and day-tripping into Belize’s rainforest, my day-tripping spilled over into my nights.
I’m a vivid dreamer; my subconscious takes all that my senses have experienced and writes new stories that feel like real events, real memories. I write them down or sketch them out when I awake.
In the dream, I was sitting at my desk working on a watercolor of an orchid. I looked up to study the beautiful black orchid sitting on the windowsill, breathe in the cool, fresh air coming in through the open shutters of my thatched-roof casita, and to admire my tropical garden outside in full bloom. To my surprise, a young Jaguar was curiously peering in.
I didn’t feel threatened; I felt bliss, peace, and love. “Hi.”
I love being close to nature, surrounded by it, and at this time of my life, I was literally living the dream and dreaming the life.
