Caverna Diablo II – Mysterious Cave with Dolphin – Surreal Watercolor
Caverna Diablo II
Watercolor
After a day of cave diving with wild dolphins off the outer cayes of Belize and a dream about the experience, I painted this watercolor.
After swimming for months with my escorts, I began to have dolphin dreams, not dreams of dolphins, but rather being one of them - one of the family, seeing the world through their eyes.
This cave has a surreal and sacred feel, dripping with stalactites and monolithic stalagmites, ancient sculptures from a time when the cave was above sea level. In the soft light, these natural formations have the look of bearded demons, and I needed to paint them. My dreams are vivid and surreal.
Originally a 22”x30” watercolor on Arches paper, this archival print brings the somber blues, grays, and hints of magenta to life. Perfect for lovers of dark, dreamlike coastal art, ‘Caverna Diablo II’ invites you to explore the mysteries of the ocean.
