Keel-billed Toucan and Black Orchid
Watercolor
The beautiful Keel-billed Toucan and the Black Orchid are Belize's National bird and flower.
Toucans can be seen best early in the morning in the rainforest areas of Central America. If you are staying close by in a jungle lodge, you may see them as you sip your morning coffee, just off the deck, eating fruit from the trees. It's a lovely way to start the day - jungle style.
The Black Orchid is a lovely orchid prized in Belize. If you are in Central America for a visit, ask if there is one in bloom close by. I sketched this orchid while enjoying a Belikin at the back deck of a restaurant in San Ignacio.
