A few of my favorite Caribbean reef fish. A Stoplight Parrotfish, Juvenal Wrasse and a brilliant Yellow-tailed Damsel, swimming with other tropical reef fish though a lush forest of bright corals and sponges. Original painting 4’ x 5’ - Oil on canvas I love the natural light that sparkles through the gin clear water on a bright Caribbean day. I try to memorize a reef scene in the same studying-way I would if I were drawing the scene. Lighthouse Reef is off the coast of Belize.

I’ve repeated a style - I created for my Thai chart - two side columns; allowing more depth for the artwork, while still playing within the boundaries of cartography. I’ve included; the Tortola Sloop, sailing ships, most all the bays - especially old favorites like, 'Throw Away Wife Bay' off of Great Camanoe Island (some names just make you wonder).

Keel-billed Toucan and the Black Orchid’ India ink and watercolor. In the early morning, colorful toucans may be seen and heard in the rainforest areas of Central America. While you sip your morning coffee: you may see them just off the deck - eating fruit from the trees. The beautiful Keel-billed Toucan and the Black Orchid are the National bird and flower of Belize.

My interpretation of a Mayan hieroglyph of the Jaguar. I sought to create the feeling of a painting on a stone temple wall. When I interpret a glyph or any ancient artwork (part of it is often missing or chipped away by time or vandals) I fill in the gaps using my imagination and full artistic license, while trying to maintain the essence and strength intended by the Maya people. In the end the image and artwork becomes a part of me, my style, a fusion of sorts spanning 3000 years.

My interpretation of a Mayan hieroglyph of the Maya God, Xul (sool) god of thunder & lightning. He is hanging from a ‘Sky Band’ representing night. Xul is a powerful god, in the body of a Jaguar. One of three Mayan Gods - known as the Palenque Triad. The first stories of the Triad begin around 3000-4000 bc. and are found through the late classic period. This one - with the Jaguar headdress leads the canoe - the Maze Paddler God usually steers from the stern. Symbols on the paddle, canoe and tattooed on his arms, show the hieroglyphs for heaven or supreme other world...

Jaguar, power, dance and transformation are symbolized and expressed in a painting. Here a Maya lord takes the shape of his animal self or “uay”, a Jaguar. His belt holds the symbol of heaven and jade beads... Serti Technique on Silk

Central American wildlife series 'Living Jungle Dreams' I had a wonderful surprise early one morning as I looked up to admire my pretty tropical flower garden and Black Orchid in full bloom ...a young Jaguar curiously peering in my cabin window. Original painting - 4’x5’ on canvas.

Hand drawn in India ink and watercolor. An elegant mermaid, that I envisioned as the Mother of the reef, with its beautiful tropical fish, turtles, dolphins and thousands of other unique and amazing life forms. The moon and stars shine behind this gentle earth mother.

The surf edges close to a mermaid blowing a queen conch shell. As she sits on an old coral head, warm waves lap at the starfish and sea urchins that surround her. Hand drawn in India ink and watercolor.

Lilly, began with a dream of an old treasure chest setting on the sandy sea floor. A pretty, young mermaid named Lilly was sorting the booty and playing with the finds, while having tea with her friends: a dolphin and reef fish.
